Mediterra Restaurant was envisioned as a unique dining destination that blends ancient Mediterranean aesthetics with modern luxury. The site, located on the rooftop of Sayaji Hotel, provides a panoramic view of Indore, enhancing the dining experience with an open-air ambiance.
The primary goal was to craft a space that harmoniously integrates the five elements of nature—air, water, fire, earth, and space—into the design, creating a balanced and inviting atmosphere.
Challenges included integrating these elements seamlessly within a limited space and ensuring that the design both respects traditional Mediterranean culture and caters to contemporary tastes.

Avadhut Kadu, Amruta Patil, Ashwani Gandhi, Vimal SutharThe design process for Mediterra Restaurant began with conceptual development rooted in the ancient belief of the five elements. During the schematic design phase, SSA focused on incorporating these elements into the restaurant’s layout and decor. Design development involved extensive research into Mediterranean aesthetics, including color schemes and geometric patterns. Challenges such as space constraints were addressed through adaptive design solutions, including modular furniture and flexible lighting. Collaboration with artisans ensured high-quality craftsmanship in features like handmade lanterns and fire pits. Quality control was rigorously applied to maintain design integrity throughout execution.
The restaurant’s design uniquely integrates the five elements of nature. Earth tones like yellow, orange, and red dominate the space, while fire pits and water features bring warmth and fluidity. This thoughtful arrangement not only pays tribute to Mediterranean traditions but also creates a sensory-rich environment that enhances the dining experience.
