Science Research Centre, IIT Bombay

A Vision for Collaborative Innovation

The Science Research Centre at IIT Bombay seamlessly integrates cutting-edge design with sustainability, creating a dynamic space for research, collaboration, and innovation. Designed with openness in mind, the Centre features expansive courtyards, open corridors, and interconnected spaces that foster interaction. Maximizing natural daylight and providing panoramic views enhances creativity and well-being. Sustainability is central to the design, with advanced building technologies—such as insulated walls, cool roofs, double-glazed windows, solar energy integration, and efficient HVAC systems—reducing energy consumption and environmental impact. A rainwater harvesting system, low-flow fixtures, and native plant landscaping further reinforce this commitment. Thoughtfully selected materials and proportions create a space that feels both modern and timeless, while collaborative workspaces promote the free exchange of ideas. By combining sustainable design, innovative architecture, and a collaborative ethos, the Science Research Centre serves as a hub for groundbreaking research and the future of science and education at IIT Bombay.
