SSA x IES – Solar Decathlon India

Sandeep Shikre & Associates (SSA) is proud to mentor students from IES College of Architecture in the Solar Decathlon India, a unique competition that challenges students to design net-zero-energy-water buildings. This global competition inspires young talents to approach the built environment with sensitivity, scientific rigor, and sensible design principles. By participating, students contribute to real projects and collaborate with leaders in real estate development, driving forward the mission to combat climate change.

We extend our gratitude to Kohinoor Planet Construction Pvt. Ltd for their support as an encouraging Project Partner. Their collaboration has been instrumental in fostering the growth and success of the participating teams.

We are thrilled to announce that IES College of Architecture, in association with CEPT University and Fr. C Rodrigues Institute of Technology, emerged as runners-up in the final Division (office building) jury of the Solar Decathlon India 2024 competition. Additionally, they won the People's Choice Award for the best movie, competing against approximately 160 teams across all five divisions.

SSA mentored Team EUNIX for nine months, guiding them through the rigorous process of designing and implementing their project. The students displayed remarkable determination, dedication, and commitment, which were key to their success. Kudos to all team members for their hard work and perseverance.

We sincerely commend the Solar Decathlon India team and Prasad Vaidya for this outstanding initiative. We look forward to the next edition, SDI 5.0, with its theme "build less, build smart," continuing to innovate and inspire future leaders in sustainable architecture. This competition is not just an academic exercise but a transformative experience that shapes the future of sustainable building practices.
